Srinagar, Aug 08 (KNO): Ashoora, the 10th day of holy month Muharram, will be observed with religious zeal and fervour across Kashmir tomorrow (Tuesday). However, except Abi Guzar locality, no restrictions shall be imposed anywhere on rallies in Srinagar, officials said. However, curbs will remain in place for traffic on various routes of the city due to huge gatherings in rallies. The 10th Muharram is observed as Youm-e-Ashoora when over 1,400 years ago, Imam Hussain (AS), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was martyred along with his family members and companions in Karbala, Iraq. According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the biggest Muharram procession is scheduled to be carried out in Bota Kadal area to Zadibal area to remember the sacrifices of Karbala martyrs. The Muharram procession will also be taken out at Bemina and other places including Budgam district, in Pattan and Delina areas of Baramulla district, Wularhama Pahalgam, Sofi Pora, Halkha, Chaturgund in South Kashmir. Meanwhile, on the eve of Ashoora, the authorities here have decided not to impose any restrictions of internet in Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. A top police official said: “There will be curbs on traffic movement on traffic routes of Srinagar due to huge gatherings in rally/rallies,” a top police official told KNO. Pertinently, the Muharram processions were taken out today in Baba Demb area, Rainawari and Gow Kadal areas of Srinagar in which large number of Shia Muslims participated and paid tributes to the Karbala martyrs—(KNO)
